When you report to Ugly Mugs you can choose "Abuse / Threats by Phone / Message / Online" as one of the incident types.


What is Abuse / Threats by Phone / Message / Online?


This is when a person sends you communications that you perceive to be abusive or threatening . Many actions that are abusive or threatening communications may also be criminal offences.


Examples of Abusive or Threatening Communications commonly reported to Ugly Mugs include:


  • Abusive name calling
  • Misogyny / whorephobia
  • Racism / xenophobia
  • Transphobia / homophobia
  • Direct threats
  • Indirect threats
  • Threats of violence
  • Death threats
  • Unwanted sexual images, e.g. "Dick Pics"
  • Phone calls from people masturbating
  • Arguing and shouting
  • Threats of police / immigration / eviction


The above list is not exhaustive.


We have a separate Ugly Mugs category for Abuse / Threats In-Person. If you receive multiple abusive or threatening communications from the same person, this may also constitute what we categorise as Harassment / Stalking.


"Abuse / Threats by Phone / Message / Online" is classed as a medium level incident on Ugly Mugs.
